Roof edges and green roof edge retention
On green roofs, the perimeter is exposed to the weather and experiences ongoing movement and runoff. An edge retention trim helps define the roof edge, supporting a neat finish and helping keep the green roof build-up (such as substrate or pebbles) in place where it matters most.
Why roof edges need an edge retention trim
Edge zones can be where debris, runoff and wind-driven exposure concentrate. A retention trim is used to:
- support the boundary of the living roof build-up,
- help prevent migration of loose media at the perimeter,
- maintain drainage pathways by allowing water to pass through the designed cut slots.
