Description

Aluminium Soffit Type 2 90° Corner

The 2mm Aluminium Soffit Type 2 90° Corner is designed to form a neat change of direction within the Metal Profiles Type 2 soffit system.

It is used where the soffit needs to continue around a 90-degree corner. This gives installers a dedicated matching component rather than relying on an unrelated trim or a site-made solution.

The corner is manufactured from 2mm aluminium and is available in standard widths from 150mm to 800mm. It is designed to work with the wider Type 2 system, which uses a vented soffit profile for the underside of roof overhangs and eaves.

For homeowners, the main consideration is matching the corner to the same soffit width and finish used on the adjoining roofline. For contractors and developers, it is worth identifying all corner positions at the estimating stage so the correct number of fittings can be included in the material schedule.

A wide range of RAL and BS colours is available, together with mill finish. Where a coated finish is selected, the aluminium is finished with external-grade polyester powder coating. This allows the corner to coordinate with the soffit, fascia and other aluminium roofline components.

Benefits & Features

Key Benefits of the Type 2 90° Corner

  • Designed for Type 2 soffits – provides a matching corner component within the Metal Profiles Type 2 system.
  • Forms a defined 90° change in direction – useful where the soffit follows corners in the building footprint.
  • 2mm aluminium construction – matches the material thickness of the main Type 2 soffit sections.
  • Vented Type 2 system compatibility – designed to work with the Type 2 soffit profile, which includes ventilation slots.
  • Widths from 150mm to 800mm – allows the corner to be matched to a wide range of soffit depths.
  • Wide RAL and BS colour choice – helps coordinate the corner with the surrounding roofline.
  • Mill finish available – offers an alternative where a powder-coated finish is not required.
  • External-grade polyester powder coating – available for exposed external applications.
  • Corrosion-resistant aluminium – suitable for external soffit and eaves use.
  • A2-s1,d0 fire classification stated on the current product page – any project-specific fire requirements should still be checked against the relevant specification.
  • 100% recyclable aluminium – aluminium can be recovered and recycled at the end of its service life.

Why the Correct Corner Matters

The corner is only one part of the soffit system, but it has a visible effect on the finished roofline.

Using a matching Type 2 corner helps maintain the same material, width, colour and profile around a change in direction. This gives the overall eaves detail a more consistent appearance.

It also makes ordering clearer. Instead of treating corners as an afterthought, they can be counted alongside the straight soffit lengths, joints and fixing accessories before the order is placed.

Installation Notes

What to Check Before Installation

Measure the soffit width and corner position before ordering. The selected corner should correspond with the width of the adjoining Type 2 soffit sections.

Also check the complete run length, number of corners, joints and end details. Metal Profiles recommends considering these points when planning the Type 2 system so that the correct sections and accessories can be allowed for from the start.

The Type 2 system includes vented soffit sections. Where roof ventilation forms part of the design, make sure the soffit arrangement is considered as part of the wider eaves detail rather than treating the corner as an isolated component. The actual ventilation requirement for the building should be determined from the relevant project design or specification.

Check the fixing substrate before installation. Metal Profiles offers different colour-coded fasteners for timber and metal substrates, so the fixing method should suit the supporting construction.

For longer soffit runs, the system can also be used with the 1mm Aluminium Soffit Internal Joiner.

Where the roofline has non-standard dimensions or an unusual corner arrangement, send the measurements or drawings through the Request an Estimate service before ordering.

Size

Available Type 2 90° Corner Sizes

The Type 2 90° Corner is manufactured from 2mm aluminium and is available in widths from 150mm to 800mm. The current product page publishes the following weights.

Thickness Soffit Width Published Weight
2mm 150mm 0.30kg
2mm 200mm 0.45kg
2mm 250mm 0.60kg
2mm 300mm 0.75kg
2mm 350mm 0.90kg
2mm 400mm 1.05kg
2mm 450mm 1.20kg
2mm 500mm 1.35kg
2mm 550mm 1.50kg
2mm 600mm 1.65kg
2mm 650mm 1.80kg
2mm 700mm 1.95kg
2mm 750mm 2.10kg
2mm 800mm 2.25kg

Choosing the Correct Width

Choose the same nominal width as the adjoining Type 2 soffit sections.

For example, if the soffit run uses a 400mm Type 2 profile, select the corresponding 400mm corner.

On refurbishment projects, measure the actual soffit opening rather than relying only on the size of an existing board. Older rooflines may hide irregular substrates or changes in width.

If one of the standard widths does not suit the building, Metal Profiles states that bespoke soffit solutions are available for project-specific requirements.
